What Are Probiotics
Probiotics are living organisms, bacteria and yeasts that are good for health, in particular your digestive system. They are known as ‘good’ bacteria because they help your gut stay healthy by preventing harmful bacteria settling there.
You can find probiotics naturally in some foods like yogurt and sauerkraut or you can get through supplements.

Probitics help to move food through our gut and helps with controlling gut movement.
Different Types of Probitics
There are two main groups of probiotics, each group contains lots of different types of bacteria.
Lactobacillus. This may be the most common probiotic. It’s the one you’ll find in yogurt and other fermented foods.
Bifidobacterium. You can also find it in some dairy products.
What can health conditions can Probiotics help with
There is still a lot of research that is being undertaken to figure our which are best for certain health problems, however, some common conditions they treat include:

- Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
- Infectious diarrhea (caused by viruses, bacteria, or parasites)
